Mission Statement
Specific student outcomes related to Mission: Students will:
- Become actively involved in their learning through discussions and collaboration with peers
- Reflect on their behaviors and understand their emotions and how their actions affect those around them
- Increase self-awareness of preferred learning styles as they produce differentiated products to demonstrate learning targets
- Effectively communicate ideas through discussion as well as written expression in each academic area
- Actively listen to one another respectfully while embracing others’ differences
- Self-regulate behaviors to effectively contribute to the classroom and school community
Learning Beliefs: We believe that students learn best when they are:
- Provided a safe, structured learning environment
- Given choices in the styles of their learning
- Recognized for giving their best effort
- Applying new learning to real-world situations
- Provided effective, engaging lessons infused with clear expectations, guided practice, and opportunities for student choice in independently applying new learning

Commitments: To accomplish our mission, we will as educators:
- Develop units and lesson plans aligned to the standards
- Plan and implement effective lessons incorporating higher order thinking skills
- Involve students in the decision-making process
- Clearly model expectations and learning targets as well as provide multiple opportunities for guided and independent practice
- Differentiate lesson design and expectations to challenge students at individual levels
- Provide students authentic literature experiences incorporating multiple opportunities for written expression
- Encourage individual responses and provide students with a variety of ways to answer prompts, questions, and assignments
- Support character development through district anti-bully curriculum and responsive classroom activities
- Incorporate all available technology resources to enrich learning
- Foster a strong home/school partnership through clear, consistent communication and involvement opportunities
