PTO Board Positions & Descriptions

  • PRESIDENT: A liaison between the school district & the Board.  Approves all fundraising projects of the PTO & is an authorized signatory for all PTO checks, contracts & other documents. The leader & key contact for the PTO. Presides at all PTO meetings. Coordinates the work of the committee(s) so that objectives can be met. Largely available to help with other PTO duties & assume other responsibilities.
  • VICE PRESIDENT: An aide to the President & performs the duties of the President in their absence. Expected to attend PTO meetings from their respective building. Ideally is willing to serve as President in the future. Chairperson over the volunteer committee & responsible for the existing volunteer system. Largely available to help with other PTO duties & assume other responsibilities.
  • SECRETARY: Keep records of the organization. Expected to attend PTO meetings from their respective building. Record minutes. Create flyers & memos for distribution. Formulate agendas. Prepare correspondence & maintain master documents. Largely available to help with other PTO duties & assume other responsibilities.
  • TREASURER: Responsible for the collection, accounting & deposit of all incoming monies. Provides receipts & check requests to Central Administration. Expected to attend PTO meetings from their respective building. Reviews & signs checks written by Central Administration. Largely available to help with other PTO duties & assume other responsibilities.
  • MEMBER-AT-LARGE: Keeps the classroom liaisons/volunteers informed about activities. Assures that volunteer data is recorded, updated & available to the Board. Expected to attend PTO meetings from their respective building. On-going dialog with classroom liaisons. Largely available to help with other PTO duties & assume other responsibilities.
