Chromebook 1:1 Program for 8th Grade Students

Attention Parents/Guardians of 8th Grade Students:  A ParentSquare message was sent home discussing the HHS 1:1 Program, which your student will now be a participant.  Details about this program can be viewed in this video. As mentioned in the video we want each parent/guardian to know beforehand that this program has a shared cost.  Each parent/guardian is asked to pay either a $50 Annual Technology Fee at the start of each school year until graduation, which will total $250, or purchase the Chromebook at a rate of $200, which is due in one payment at 8th Grade Orientation.  If you choose to buy the Chromebook, you would not owe the Annual Technology Usage Fee and should you decide to leave or move from the Hermitage School District, you would keep the Chromebook. If you choose to pay the Technology Fee each year and you leave the school prior to making the last payment at the start of the student's senior year, you will need to return the Chromebook, charger and the case.  Please note the the Technology Fee for any student who qualifies and has submitted an application for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program will be $10 or $20, respectively, per year.
With either option you select above, you can also choose to purchase insurance that will extend the warranty beyond the manufacturer’s standard 1 year warranty and also provide accidental damage protection. This additional cost will cover most accidents, such as a broken screen, as well as other defects such as the keyboard or touchpad stop working.  This coverage can be purchased for $100 and will cover the Chromebook until August 31st, 2030. While the Technology Fee or Chromebook purchase amount is due at Orientation, you can add the insurance no later than August 29th.
Beginning on August 10th, payments can be made either via the School District Online Store (click on HHS Chromebook 1:1 Program after signing in) or by bringing cash or a check/money order, made payable to the Hermitage School District, to the 8th Grade Orientation at 6pm on August 20th.  Please note that there is a transaction fee to use the Online Store.
